Entry Requirements
Most delegates
enrolled on any of the CPDA programmes are sponsored
by their company/organisation and normally have at least 3 years
of industrial experience. We do however have
some
self
sponsored
delegates. Applicants with less than 3 years experience are encouraged
to contact the CPDA Office.
Typically delegates should
have one of the following:
- A good Honours degree
in mathematics, engineering or science (2.i or above) with
at least 3 years postgraduate experience of working as a professional
engineer or within the engineering environment. For each
degree
point lower than a 2.i, an extra year’s experience
is required;
- Other appropriate qualifications
such as an HNC with 8 years or an HND with 5 years postgraduate
experience of working as a professional engineer or within
the engineering environment;
- An NVQ level 4 in an
engineering subject with 5 years P/G experience. The applicant
may need some support to understand academic requirements,
due to the different requirements of an NVQ to an HND. This should
be discussed as part of the individual’s application.
Applicants with
other appropriate qualifications and experience of working as professional
engineers at the graduate level will also be considered. Applicants
with qualifications below degree level require more years of relevant
industrial experience than graduates, depending on the level of
academic study achieved to date.
International
Students
If your first language is not English, you need to reach a suitable
standard in an approved test of English as a foreign language. For more
details please click here.
Short
Course Students
There are no specific entry requirements for students who attend CPDA
modules on an individual basis as 'stand alone' courses. However, students
must feel confident with the module content as well as studying at postgraduate
level. Students must complete the post module assignment to gain the
academic credit but short course students are given the option of whether
they wish to complete it or not. A pass of 50% or above is required
in the assignment. For more details please refer to How
to Apply.
