Students whose
first language is not English are required to reach a suitable standard
in an approved test of English as a foreign language. We recommend
the International English Language
Testing Service (IELTS) examination available through local British
Council Offices in the students home country. The Test
of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is also acceptable. For
entry on to the CPDA, students are required to gain at least 6.5 in
IELTS or 620 in the written test for TOEFL or 260 in the computer-based
test forTOEFL or a score of 6.0 in IELTS and a 5-week or 10-week pre-sessional
English Language course at the University of Bristol Language Centre.
If you choose to undertake a Language course, please be aware that
the English Language condition will only be met if the course is completed
satisfactorily. The University of Cambridge Proficiency Certificate
in English (Grades A-C) is also acceptable. If any advice is needed
on these tests please contact the CPDA Secretary. Please note that
students who have been studying or working in the UK for a period
of two years do not need to take an English language test.
If applying from
outside the UK, the application should be accompanied by full certified
transcripts of the students academic record to date. If for some reason
they have to be sent separately, students must ensure that they are
sent to the CPDA Office accompanied by a letter stating the programme
applied for. If the documents are not in the English language, they
should be accompanied by a certified English translation. It is in
the students best interests to provide full information without delay,
thus ensuring a speedy decision by the CPDA Consortium.
