Short Course Applicants
Any of our modules can be attended as a stand-alone course. There is no formal enrolment and no formal qualifications are required. However attendees are expected to have some experience of postgraduate work and review the module synopsis prior to the module to assess suitability. Please complete the short course application form (2008-2009) and return it to the CPDA Secretary if you wish to make a booking. For all modules there is the opportunity for short course attendees to complete the Post Module Assignment and whilst this is not compulsory it is recommended as passing the assignment allows you to gain academic credit. It is also a means of demonstrating that you have understood and can apply the skills taught in the module. A certificate with your module mark would be issued upon completion. Please
note that short course delegates who later decide to enroll
on the programme and therefore wish to submit an assignment
for a module attended previously, are required to attend
either part of or all of the next running of that module
prior to completing the assignment. This is the case only
if more than 6 months have passed since the original deadline.
Delegates should note that they will be charged the full
module fee for a second attendance on a module. For further
details please refer to Q.IM.16
PMA assignment procedures for delegates.
Following
the submission of an application, further details can be
found regarding the enrolment
process.
Chartered Engineer Recognition Many applicants are interested in achieving professional recognition in their careers. Studying for these awards can provide the remaining academic qualifications required – along with sufficient work experience – to achieve this recognition. Unlike the undergraduate degrees M.Eng and B.Eng, M.Sc awards are not accredited by the professional engineering institutions. This is due to the nature of M.Sc programmes, which are often very diverse in nature. The CPDA award is no exception – each individual chooses their own module programme from the wide range offered. However, the engineering institutions are willing to review each programme as it is identified. This is done via their Further Learning Panels, which decide whether the programme chosen satisfies the academic requirements for C.Eng approval. Therefore,
any CPDA applicant or existing student who wishes to apply
for Chartered Engineering recognition should: These can then be sent to the relevant institution for review at the Further Learning Panels. The panels will either approve the choice made, or give reasons for any conditions imposed. This way, the applicant is aware early in the CPDA programme of what is required in their particular circumstances to complete their qualifications for the C.Eng. This information should be sent to: Royal
Aeronautical Society Institution of Mechanical Engineers Please also send a copy of this information to the CPDA Secretary, for our records. Note: some of the documents on this page are in PDF format. In order to view a PDF you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader |
