Assessing The Project

The project proposal is included as part of the overall assessment. This not only helps both Supervisor and delegate to understand the aims and outcomes of the project, but also shows clarity of project management and helps to identify where changes from initial concept to final dissertation occurred.

Guidance for Academic Supervisors on the marking of projects is supplied by the CPDA Office and meets both Universities’ requirements. Please see document below.

The project is blind marked by the Academic Supervisor, a nominated second marker and an External Examiner. First and second marks are presented to the Exam Board. The final mark is agreed by the External Examiner at the Board. If the 1st or 2nd Mark is >10% from the average, then a 3rd marker is required Eg. 55% (1st marker) and 75% (second marker) average is 65%. 10% of 65 = 6.5%. Therefore 65% - 6.5% = 58.5% lowest acceptable mark 65% + 6.5% = 71.5% highest acceptable mark. In this case a third marker is required.

In rare cases, there may be some doubt about the authenticity of the submitted work. If this is so, the Academic Supervisor should activate the CPDA Offences procedures.
